Had the car serviced today – always an expensive exercise, but at least today they fixed a couple of things, and you can tell they are fixed, so that at least makes it seem sort of worthwhile I guess. Nothing worse than paying hundreds for a car service and it seeming 100% exactly the same as when you drove it in!
Do office politics give anyone else the shits or is it just me. Seemed to be a busy day in the office today, office politics wise. Lots of stupid little things. One of my Help Desk staff today asked me if she was too noisy. Now she is the best Help Desk agent I have, she has so much positive energy and that just lights the place up. So I said no, of course you’re not too noisy, I love the effect you have on the team. Apparently someone, indirectly through another person (ie too gutless to do it directly) has been complaining about the noise. I told her to not worry about it, and keep doing exactly as she is doing. If the complainer hasn’t got the guts to talk to her, or me, directly about their problem then they can go take a flying leap …
The girls had a great game of basketball tonight against the top team, unfortunately we ended up going down by 2 points, 34-32, but it was hard fought and I was very proud of their effort. The referees let a lot of stuff go, so it was pretty tough out there, but they were consistent with both teams and that is the main thing.
Tonight after work I did a 10km run, at about 5:15 min/km pace, then walked a further 1.5km home as a cool down. A couple of little niggles from the achilles, but nothing too bad. The lurgy appears to be staying at the “slight head cold” stage and not getting any worse.
