I haven’t been on-line for the last few days because I’ve been down in Geelong with my mum because my dad is in hospital. He was taken into hospital by ambulance on Monday morning. We still don’t really know what is wrong (still doing tests) but it does involve some internal bleeding which is never a good thing. The worse aspect of it all though is the mental affect it has had on him. He is suffering what they call deleriums and is not my dad at all – it has been very distressing. We are told that this is often caused by blood loss and internal bleeding and are hopeful that it will pass and is not anything permanent. My mum was really distressed too and needed some support. My brother has gone down today and I will have a couple of days at home and go back down on Friday.
Went for my first run this afternoon since Sunday’s SiS race, and it was so great. After the going’s on of the last few days it felt so good to be out running with a bit of rain on my face. It was only just over 9km at 5:35 pace, but I think it did me the world of good. I was pretty wet and cold when I got home though, and given that I still have a few sniffles I hope it wasn’t a silly thing to do.
The official SiS results had me 10th (out of 49) in my age group, 53rd (out of 233) in the men and 69th (out of 744) overall. I’m pretty happy with that.
