Wimped it …. twice

By ajh

I packed my bag last night so I could go for a swim before work this morning and dutifully set the alarm for 5am. When it went of, I did manage to get out of bed, but it was so damn cold I just got back in and went back to sleep. Wimped it … number 1.

Tonight when I got home it was raining lightly, but I told myself I would go for my run anyway. Actually got out the front door, rain was a bit heavier and it was so damn cold I came back inside. Wimped it … number 2.

Roll on summer!

Instead of the run I did a home workout though of about 45 minutes. Exercise bike, lots of pushups (6 sets of 20), mixed up with various free weights and core exercises.

Today was one of those days where something small (in the entire scheme of things) really brightens your day – and turns it from a normal day into a wonderful one.

Oh, I almost forgot, yesterdays comments. TA, I forgive you for wanting to punch Katie Melua (I don’t understand the compulsion, but I forgive you anyway), but AndrewE, I don’t know if I can forgive you for saying you’d picked me as more of a Britney fan! I’m going to assume you were joking, otherwise I’d be mortally offended :-)

I agree with Miz Fit. You still got down to work in the end!

Agree with MF, great that you did a workout at home….so in effect you didn’t wimp, you still did something. Don’t be so hard on yourself, flexibility and mixing it up helps keep you interested and motivated. Good for you.

You didn’t wimp it – you SWAPPED it! So many folks woulda just quit right there but YOU DIDN’T. You are not allowed to feel negative about that, no way. I will not allow it.

Roll on summer indeed. The weather forecast here is rain, rain, rain.

I hate to admit it but I’ve gotten slightly hooked on Pink Floyd!

    Hey Andrew!

It was raining this am in Florida, so I did an hour on the stairmaster! Then the rain stopped, so I said, what the hell, and ran a 7 miler outside. It was tough,, but it felt great to finish! Like Lance said, the pain was only temporary. Finishing and quitting are not the same are they :-)

I’m not sure about punching Katie Melua. The thing is – even after punching her, she can still sing and presumably write more god-awful music.

I think burying her in a sound-proof vault might work better.

I hold my hand up and say that I’m one of those people who wimp out good and proper. If I don’t get out to run when I should, then I don’t end up doing anything at all.

And I can totally relate to wanting to stay warm and dry. I hate the cold and rain….but I’m sure you already know that as I tell everyone often enough!

  9. Sara Says:

Just so you know for next time- I still swim in the cold at 5am so come on, harden up and get out there (unless it is really really cold then you can go back to bed).
