Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

By ajh

After a long and draining day at work today, I really needed my run. It was one of those days where I could really feel a huge difference in how I felt before and after the run – a real Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde! The quote from Jimmy Carter that appears in my blog navigator says it well, my run really did feel that it relieved the tension I was feeling due to the stressful day at work. I’m reading a book at the moment called “Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain” that explains the positive effect that exercise can have – it’s nice to understand why you really do feel better after a run!

Anyway, tonight was a 6.3km run with Alyssa at an average 5:10 min/km pace, with a conscious (and successful) effort to run it non-stop (no run-walk, no stretch breaks). We’re making progress and her mum told me she’d been on a “high” all day after making the 10km distance yesterday.

I’m with you (and left you a few sets/reps musings on site as I’m sure you weren’t alone in asking).

For me before I do my brief am cardio I’m HYDEMaMa.

After? That’s Dr ToddlerBabyMama to you ;)

I’m with you – I’ve had a 48 hour cardio break because of my back and I’ve been SO grumpy! My poor boyfriend has had a terrible time! Been swimming today though and suddenly all is well with the world :)

ENDORPHINS – do it for the sake of your loved ones!

    TA x

It must be rather rewarding to see the progress Alyssa is making.

And like the other commentors I too find that running puts me in a much better mood.
