An early ride turns into an early jog …

By ajh

I headed out for a ride this morning at about 6:30am, but my proposed 30km-ish ride turned into a 13.5km ride and a 3km jog when I got another bloody puncture. I really am getting sick and tired of all the glass that is on the roads and bike paths around here. Fortunately I’d decided to only ride around the local area, and was only a few kilometres from home. The puncture was in the rear wheel, and as I had my nice new 2XU red jacket on, in fear of getting grease all over me, I just decided to jog it home, rather than changing the tube. Of course, you can’t jog in cleated cycling shoes so I was jogging in socks, pushing the bike, holding the shoes – all rather awkward.

Anyway, all fixed now, and a trip to the local bike shop today to stock up on new inner tubes!

I had a haircut today, so am feeling a bit more respectable.

Tea out tonight with friends, pizza and red wine – feeling like I’ve eaten too much.

    Bad luck with the glass.

Ever thought about getting puncture resistant tubes (i think one brand is called Armadillo)

They cost a bit more but they’re definitely worth it I reckon.

I get so angry at the amount of glass, it’s a pain when you get a puncture and I’m always nervous about my dogs’ feet. So far so good, nobody’s been hurt, but it’s everywhere.
