I spoke to Mum and Dad on the phone today and they had had some bad news. The son-in-law of some very close friends of theirs dropped dead over the weekend whilst umpiring a game of junior football. He was only 32 years old, and the father of twin eight year old boys and a three year old girl. One of his little boys was playing in the football game. It makes you think doesn’t it – makes you feel very lucky. My heart goes out to the young family.
Weigh in on Saturday morning was good – 74kg on the knocker – I’d been watching my food intake during the week as I wasn’t able to run or bike, so a 600g loss for the week was a pleasing result.
Saturday was a busy day starting at the Vic Market as usual and including a 4km walk with Adrienne and Jackie around the Maribyrnong bridge-to-bridge loop and another drive into the city for some shopping with Chris.
It was great to get back on the bike on Saturday afternoon for a 27km ride down to Strathmore and back. It was a fairly fast ride on that bike track for me, averaging 26.6 km/hr.
Today I decided to head in for another swim. I did my standard 80 laps (2km) but as there was no hurry to get to work, I spent some time in the sauna, steam room and spa – a wonderful way to start the day.
Late this afternoon I went for a run with Alyssa. As prescribed by Dr K it was only a short run, 4.7km @ 5:11 min/km.
The positive news is that the knee seems really good after the first bike / run since the cortisone injection – keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow you are much better behaved than I am- can’t control my eating when I am sad about not exercising so the effect is two fold!

That’s pretty scary. 32 is younger than me.
Glad your knee is holding up.
