Tassie – Day 4 (Fri)

Our second day in Port Arthur and we were blessed with an absolutely beautiful day of weather. We spent the morning doing a 3-hour eco-cruise down the coastline. In a 12.5 metre (40-seater) vessel, powered by 3 275-horsepower outboards, is the only way to see some of this rugged coastline, and some of it’s inhabitants. We saw lots of Australian Fur Seals, heaps of bird life including 4 species of albatross and some sea-eagles, and were blessed with a meeting with a small humpback whale.

We spent the rest of the day exploring the historic Port Arthur ruins, including an “Isle of the Dead” tour (this is the island that was the graveyard site). A wonderful historic site and lots more to explore tomorrow.

I could get used to this lifestyle.

I enjoyed seeing port arthur but found it a little uncomfortable after what happened there.
You sure could get used to the lifestyle, couldn’t we all….unfortunately our waistlines and bank balances would also get used to it!!!

Are you going to “Doo” Town? That’s my fave place around Port Arthur, mostly cos I love bad puns.

The photos are fantastic Andrew. Tasmania is such a beautiful place, isn’t it.
