Blah …

The last few days I’ve been feeling a bit blah, not sick, just tired and a bit down. Not really sure why, work has been a bit crazy, the weather … who knows? Consequently I haven’t been bothered with the blog the last couple of days … here’s the highlights.

Monday

A run with Deb before work was very pleasant, despite being very, very cold. I’d really love to run more with a partner, it really is heaps more enjoyable than on your own. Our normal 8km loop at 5:42 min/km pace.

Tuesday

An appointment with the skin specialist first thing was all good news. She was really happy with how it has cleared up and has told me I can discontinue the steroid ointment and just to continue moisturising. She also said I can return to swimming … yay!

I picked up my bike. The front wheel just needed a re-true and re-tension, so an inexpensive repair. I’ll have to try to keep my foot out of my spokes in the future!

An 8km run after work, in the cold and dark, with some rain thrown in towards the end. It felt hard, but also felt good to have gone out and done it. My calves were a little sore afterwards.

I felt really tired last night and ended up in bed by 8pm.

Today

I’d planned to go in for a swim this morning, but stayed in bed instead. My calves still felt a little sore today so I settled for just a home workout tonight.

Monthly Summary

Running: 57 km at 5:42 min/km (YTD 297 km at 5:37 min/km)
Cycling: 430 km at 23.6 kms/hr (YTD 2524 km at 24.5 km/hr)
Swimming: No swims (YTD 13 swims – 11.3 hours)
Other: 11 home workouts (YTD 78)

Another low running month, but about average for what I’ve been doing this year. I think I’m just going to have to face facts that lots of running really isn’t in my future. A pretty reasonable month on the bike though, especially considering what the weather has been like. I’m still on track (actually about 40km ahead) of my 5,000km for the year goal. No swimming for the month due to doctors orders (the chlorine apparently would aggrevate the eczema), but managed to maintain a reasonable frequency of my home workouts.

28.9 hours and 19,085 calories recorded in the training journal for June.
