Hot 100 – Weekly update 8

Here is my week 8 update for the Hot 100 challenge.

  1. 2010 exercise goal.
    To continue to exercise regularly;
    – exercise on average at least 6 hours per week
    – maintain the intensity of exercise and burn an average of > 4,000 calories per week
    For the Hot 100 I’m going to stretch the goals a bit;
    – stay 10% ahead of both measurements by the end of 2010
    – succeed in both measurements in 12 out of the 15 weeks between now and the end of 2010
    Another failed week, only just under 3.2 hours of exercise, for 2,424 calories. Averages year to date are 6.33 hours (5.5% ahead) and 4,321 calories (8.0% ahead). That is also three failed weeks, so if I’m to meet the “succeed in both measurements in 12 out of the 15 weeks between now and the end of 2010” I have to succeed every week. This will be difficult with a vacation and Christmas still to go.
  2. 2010 weight and body fat goal
    To continue to eat a sensible and balanced diet, and;
    – maintain my weight within the 70-75kg range
    – maintain my body-fat percentage within the 15-20% range.
    This weeks result is 73.2 kg (up 1.2 kg from last week) and 17.9% body fat. Year to date results; average 72.6 kg, minimum 70.9 kg, maximum 74.4 kg.
  3. 2010 bicycle distance goal
    To ride 5,000km in 2010
    This week 57 km, year to date 4,456 km, which is 141 km (or 10.3 days) ahead of schedule. 543 km left to reach 5,000 km.

Another failed week on the exercise goals due to work commitments, a slight lack of motivation and the weather. Whilst not happy to have gone up 1.2kg this week, I’m still within the target range so not too perturbed as long as the trend doesn’t continue over coming weeks.

Todays exercise, due to the heavy all-day rain, was a one-hour home workout including some time on the exercise bike and treadmill, some core work, stretches, foam roller, push-ups and various dumbell exercises.

    I get the weather thing – I am a fair weather bike rider. And when I don’t ride my bike, I will do something else but never for as long. Sigh. Looks like you are mostly on track with your goals still, despite the obstacles.

    Weather sure plays a role in exercise, especially outside exercise. Good luck getting back on track this week AJH – you can do it!

    You’re being a bit mean to yourself with that red ink Andrew. This wet spring has been a bit of a test — the undergound carpark at Parly House has saved us a couple of times (350m a lap). Rain is good for the country, but our dams are nearly full! Good that you’ve kept the weight in the zone.
