vTdF – Stage 6 – Completed

Virtual Tour de France – Stage 6 – Montargis to Gueugnon – 227.5km

This year one of my bike goals is to complete a “virtual Tour de France”. That is, to complete the same number of kilometres as the 2010 TdF riders did (3,641.9km) before the 2011 TdF completes on the 25th of July. These posts track my progress as I “complete each stage”.

The Course: At 227.5km this is the longest stage of the 2010 Tour. There are two Cat4 climbs in the first half, then two more in the last 50km.

The Race: A pretty classical escape, followed by a peleton catch, followed at the end by Mark Cavendish winning the final sprint again to make it two stage wins in a row.

vTdF Status: 1,214.9km completed, target completion date for this stage was March 10th, so 8 days ahead of schedule.

So now we’re neck and neck, Andrew, and I’m thinking I shouldn’t hold on too tightly to that yellow jersey. =)

Congratulations and good luck for Stage 7, whoohoo!

    Whee, awesome!
