vTdF – Stage 14 – Completed

Virtual Tour de France – Stage 14 – Revel to Ax 3 Domaines – 184.5km

This year one of my bike goals is to complete a “virtual Tour de France”. That is, to complete the same number of kilometres as the 2010 TdF riders did (3,641.9km) before the 2011 TdF completes on the 25th of July. These posts track my progress as I “complete each stage”.

The Course: With the HC climb of the Port de Pailheres at the 140km mark of the stage and the Category 1 climb up to Axx 3 Domaines for the finish, the riders will iot be looking forward to the end of this stage, especially given that there is much worse to come over the next few days.

The Race: Frenchman Christophe Riblon led a group of the GC favourites to the finish of this stage, but beat them to the line by almost a minute. Riblon had begun his attack at the 24km mark of the 185km stage, a great effort to stay out in front.

vTdF Status: 2,728.4km completed, target completion date for this stage was June 3rd, so 22 days behind schedule (it was 25 at the end of the previous stage). Less than 900km to go, still need just over 30km per day to get this done on time.

Riding everyday to work must help with the 30k a day target. Tacking on a few extra on the way home will see you catch up in no time

Better get going AJH … 🙂
