Yell for Cadel …. louder please!

Wow, the racing through the Alps the last few nights has been unbelievable hasn’t it. Out riding this morning, and feeling some muscle burn in my quads (after only about 40km of riding), made me think about the supreme effort these guys put in, and how they are able to push their bodies through the pain barrier. Watching Cadel push himself the last couple of nights, often with absolutely no help from anyone up long, uphill stretches was gut-wrenching.

The switchbacks leading up to Alpe D’Huez are incredible aren’t they? Riding up there myself is definitely on the bucket list. Although, not sure if it should be on the list of “things to do before you die” or the list of “things that might kill you”, or maybe both?

Cadel has finished in 2nd place in the tour twice before in 2007 and 2008, by 23 seconds and 58 seconds respectively. Surely he deserves a win tonight? Win or lose though, he has represented himself, his BMC team and Australia so well, again!

So, keep cheering!

For me, two rides again today, out early on my own on the road bike in the fog, then out again this afternoon for a ride with Kate on my mountain bike. I’ve left myself 26km to do tomorrow to finish my virtual TdF!

At weekly weigh-in this morning I was 73.8kg, the heaviest I’ve been all year, but still within the <75kg target range. I put the gain down to cycling, not the "doing", the "watching". Staying up for a few extra hours every night results in a fair bit more snacking and drinking. Oh well, only two nights to go!

Great to see Cadel hit the front with the Gentleman’s day to go. Hopefully we won’t see anyone try and break that agreement tonight.
Haven’t watched a lot of the race on TV but one night I did hear that many Aussies (and others I assume) hire a motorhome and follow the TdF course as part of a holiday.
    Sounds like a plan 🙂

Gareth is wanting to ride up Alpe D’Huez next year, you should totally come over!

So cool re your Virtual Tour (cannot WAIT to read it out on the podder) and shed a few tears here for Cadel too. Definitely agree best Oz sporting achievement ever. America’s Cup, pfffftttt 😉
